FATES WARNING Reveal New Album Title, Artwork, Release Date, and Tour Dates!

c_diadlU.S. Progressive Metal pioneers FATES WARNING have finally returned with their first studio album release in about a decade! Entitled Darkness In A Different Light, the album will be released on September 30, 2013 in Europe and October 1, 2013 in North America via InsideOutMusic.

Darkness In A Different Light is FATES WARNING‘s first album of new material since the release of FWX in 2004 and also marks the first release for the band’s stellar current line-up of Ray Alder (vocals), Jim Matheos and Frank Aresti (guitars), Joey Vera (bass) and Bobby Jarzombek (drums).

The album was produced by Matheos and mixed by long time FATES WARNING engineer Phil Magnotti, while mastering was handled by Maor Appelbaum at Maor Appelbaum Mastering, California.  The (above pictured) artwork for the album was designed by Conte di San Pietro.

FATES WARNING vocalist Ray Alder checked in with a comment as follows:

Darkness in a Different Light is the result of almost two years of very hard work from everyone in the band. 
I believe that this line-up is the best that Fates has ever had, and I also think that it comes through in the music on this album. It’s been almost nine years since our last studio album and I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished here.
We are looking very much forward to playing some new songs for our fans who have stuck by us over all these years. We plan on touring as much as possible for Darkness in a Different Light and hopefully we’ll hit a few places we’ve never been…”

Indeed, FATES WARNING already have headlining touring runs confirmed for October in Europe and November/December in North America, with further live activity to follow in 2014.

It is truly good to see Jason back and flourishing with Newsted. We are fortunate to have been able to review HMM and bring our review to you the music world. Newsted consists of Jason Newsted – lead vocals/bass, Jesus Mendez Jr. – drums, Jessie Farnsworth – guitar, Mike Mushok – guitar. This is a band that has come together to bring us some great heavy ROCK N’ ROLL!

Newsted new press

     Headbanging riffs, heavy vocals, strong lyrics make this record a DO NOT MISS on my list. With familiar elements and yet still something new they have brought  something fresh to the heavy metal table.  This record contains the heaviness that seems lost to a certain other band that shall remain nameless. I have recently been asking myself if some of our Rock N’ Roll veterans can remain relevant in today’s music world. I am happy to say Newsted’s Heavy Metal Music can indeed. DEATH ALLEY MOTOR CULT RELEASES THE OUTLAW CHRONICLES!!!

Boy am I glad the music industry is back in the hands of the musicians. Because of this bands are making the records they want to make, and they are damn good. Death Alley Motor Cult has made one of those DO NOT MISS records. Before we talk about the record let’s talk a bit about Death Alley Motor Cult. Comprised of four distinct individuals: Death Alley Dave – Vocals and Lead Guitar, Zero-G – Rhythm Guitar and backing Vox, The Falcon – Bass and backing vox
The Banker – Drums. Separately they are unique individuals, together they form a solid rocking unit. On to the record, The Outlaw Chronicles will take you on a brutal journey that you will want to go on again and again. Your journey starts with  “She Wants” which sets the pace for this sonic descent into the world of Death Alley Motor Cult. Like a fish hook in the mouth of a trout “Sex Parade” snags you with a solid groove and will have your fist pumping in the air. The lead off single “Bow Down” knocks on your eardrums and then simply kicks them in, full of aggression and power this is the PERFECT song for the pit. “Funk You” well, “C” makes it meaningful if you get my drift. “I’m Not Dead” gives one the self affirmation to stay strong and persevere, not dead, NEVER SAY DIE!  “Robot Bride” makes me think of blasting down the highway at about 90 with the sound CRANKED TO 11+!!! “Bad Ass Mutha” yes they are, and yes they mean it this one makes you feel like it too! “One More For The Road” keeps the pace til the very end, no slacking on this record. If you’re looking for a technical album, you won’t find it here. Loud, dirty, sleazy rock n’ roll with loud guitars, throbbing bass, pounding drums, and I just gargled with razorblades vocals is what you get with Death Alley Motor Cult!!! Kudos to Death Alley Motor Cult  for making a kickass record! Special thanks to Eddie’s Mates for turning me on to this band!

EX-HELLACOPTERS GUITARIST ROBERT DAHLQVIST TO RELEASE SOLO ALBUM “SOLO” THIS FALL

SWEDEN – Ex-Hellacopters guitarist, Robert Dahlqvist, has announced a release date of October 2, 2013 for his debut solo effort, aptly named Solo, on Despotz Records.

“After ten years with the Hellacopters and four years with Dundertåget and a variety of freelance jobs, it is now time for me to release my first solo album,” said Dahlqvist. “I can, from the bottom of my heart to say, that I have never been this proud of some music I made – feels like a life’s work, everything from the music to the lyrics and production.”

With vocals sung entirely in Swedish, Solo was recorded, mixed and produced by Björn Olsson (Union Carbide Productions, The Soundtrack of our Lives), a process that has been two years in the making.

“Songs that I’ve worked with for two years,” added Dahlqvist. “A time that has gone up and down emotionally for me, and that is why the songs have a very personal and fragile sense of themselves.

“Björn has been extremely careful and sensitive throughout the shoot, but in no way has it been difficult to record. It cannot be anything better than to record music with a friend and be friends through the whole process, it has actually never happened before.”
