LAMB OF GOD MANAGER RESPONDS TO BLYTHE INDICTMENT

As news breaks of Randy Blythe’s indictment on manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic, manager Larry Mazer responds with the following statement:

“After a three month investigation, the prosecutor in the Czech Republic has decided to move forward with an indictment of Randy Blythe on the charge of manslaughter with intent to cause bodily harm. Obviously, we intend to fight vigorously against these charges as we feel that in no way did Randy intend to cause bodily harm on the young fan who subsequently died from injuries sustained at the show.  As he has stated previously, Randy intends to go to Prague to defend himself at trial.

While it is a tragedy that a Lamb of God fan died following a performance by the group, in no way do I feel that Randy did anything improper that led to the young man’s injuries and subsequent death.  The price of a ticket to a show does not entitle audience members access to a band’s stage.  In the years since the murder on stage of Dimebag Darrell Abbott, performers of all genres have had to become more guarded while performing in response to the dangers presented by fans trying to become part of the performance.  We believe that Randy responded professionally to the numerous amount of fans rushing the stage that day, a number of them captured on videos that have been posted on the internet. We have testimony from the venue operator that acknowledges lax security and an improper barricade being used that evening. Numerous testimonies from fans also were contradictory as to the actions of the multiple fans that tried to access the stage.

At this point, all that the band, myself, and our lawyers can do is to present a defense and try to convince the panel of judges who will hear the case that Randy is innocent of all charges and that his name and reputation need to be cleared and that he be permitted to carry on with his life and career always mindful that a fan passed away after a Lamb of God performance.

HAVOK – A BAND THAT MADE ME SAY DAMN…

Sometimes a band impacts you, sometimes very hard. HAVOK accomplished this on me on 10/25/12 when I caught their live show. Straight out of the gate I was hooked. mid-set I went to their merch table and purchased their two CD’s POINT OF NO RETURN and TIME IS UP.

Formed in Colorado in 2004, the band put out two self-released discs and quickly garnered interest from UK label Candlelight records. BURN was released in 2009 bringing forth an onslaught of brutal guitar riffs, chest crushing bass lines, jackhammer drums, and vocals from the depths of hell itself! 2011 brought forth their second album TIME IS UPFront to back this CD smokes. One can really appreciate the technical skill put forth on this album. Remember the first time you heard Metallica, Exodus, Overkill, Anthrax, Testament, or Obituary? HAVOK takes you back with this one. They deliver the same “We will crush you to the ground” punch on this one. In 2012 HAVOK put out the EP POINT OF NO RETURNThough it only has four tracks (one of which pays homage to Slayer’s “Reigning Blood”) it satisfies your need for metal.

Listening to the CD’s gives one a chance to appreciate the technical prowess of HAVOK but it is their live show that will completely blow you away. Energetic, engaging, powerful are but only a few words to describe them live. You HAVE to see them live given the chance.

HAVOK is comprised of David Sanchez – Lead vocals / Guitars, Jesse De Los Santos – Lead bass / Vocals, Pete Webber – Lead drums, and Reece Scruggs – Lead guitar / Vocals. I was able to speak for a moment with Jesse and Reece about their performance. They were very humble and grateful to my words of praise for them. They graciously signed my newly purchased copy of TIME IS UP. It was a great evening.

In conclusion, I would like to thank HAVOK for carrying the torch of Thrash that their forefathers lit for them.

TESTAMENT: DARK ROOTS OF EARTH

Image

Yes Testament is STILL kicking your ass with some great music! Like other bands they have suffered lineup changes and health issues but have persevered and kept going.

Dark Roots of Earth was released on July 31st, 2012 this newest release has them as strong as ever.

1. “Rise Up” easily my favorite track. The lyrics:
It’s time to rise up!
It’s time to rise for war!
It’s time to rise up!
Black is death!
And red is war!

just get my blood pounding and my fist pumping! Love to crank this one to 11 and grin evilly at other people in cars.

2. “Native Blood” The video for this track is relevant to the struggles of the Native American peoples. It is a solid track and the video hits home and is very well done.

As for the following tracks, they are ALL solid and worth listening to and developing your own opinions on.
3. “Dark Roots of Earth”
4. “True American Hate”
5. “A Day in the Death”
6. “Cold Embrace”
7. “Man Kills Mankind”
8. “Throne of Thorns”
9. “Last Stand for Independence”

This is one of Testament’s standout records and worth snatching up!
