During a discussion yesterday about the impact of music on our lives the topic of defining songs came up. The question was posed “What single song defines who you are?” I pondered this question for a bit and came to only one conclusion, Rainbow- “Long Live Rock N’ Roll”. It simply states my feelings on the music I love. There is not a second of any day when a song is not running through my head. Someone once told me that if they were to cut me music notes would bleed out of me. “Long Live Rock N’ Roll” indeed!
How would you act if you had the chance to open for Queensryche on tour? Probably geek out and act fool like I would. Not these lads from Ireland. This band hit the stage running and didn’t let up until their set was done.
Fresh and with a kickass rockin’ sound, The Voodoos brought their A game to the show.
I got to meet the band after the show and chat a bit. I found them quite charming and still full of piss and vinegar. We picked up their debut CD and asked them to sign it. I gave them my copper and gold Sharpies to use and they fell in love with them, so they were donated for the cause, use them well boys!
thanks guys
“V” for Voodoos!!!
Thanks for the show, and the hospitality guys, hope to hear more from you soon!
I was saddened to hear of the passing yesterday of longtime Deftones bassist Chi Cheng. He had been struggling with recovery since a horrific automobile accident in November of 2008. Chi leaves behind a wife and a son. Chi was a practicing Buddhist, and maintained an interest in Taoism and Shamanism.
We will all miss our brother Chi. Here is a website where you can get news http://oneloveforchi.com/

Here is the link to their new video for “Scream To Whisper” :
From the opening notes of “I Remember Now” to the closing notes of “Eyes of a Stranger”, Operation Mindcrime was played in its entirety to perfection at The Hard Rock Casino in Albuquerque, NM on 04/12/13. No breaks, and no interruptions, the story of Operation Mindcrime was told to completion. Never mind about controversy and nay saying, THIS was Queensryche at its finest. Like a superhero calling forth his team mates, Geoff Tate has assembled a rock solid lineup.
With Robert Sarzo (Hurricane, and was considered as Randy Rhoads replacement for OZZY), Simon Wright ( AC/DC, Dio, UFO, Rhino Bucket, John Norum, Tim “Ripper” Owens, Mogg/Way), Randy Gane (Myth), Kelly Gray (Myth, Slave To The System), and the LEGENDARY Rudy Sarzo (OZZY, Quiet Riot, Whitesnake, M.A.R.S., Manic Eden, Michael Angelo Batio, Dio, Bassinvaders, Tim “Ripper” Owens, Animetal USA), you can’t go wrong.
Robert Sarzo on fire!
Kelly Gray in charge!
Somewhere behind this kit is Simon Wright
Rudy Sarzo showing us how bass is done!
After totally annihilating us with their blistering rendition of Operation Mindcrime, Geoff finally broke his silence and talked to the wildly enthusiastic crowd. “You want more?” he queried. Queensryche then launched into a four song encore set. “Silent Lucidity”, “I’m American”, “Jet city Woman”, and closing with “Empire”. Geoff and crew continued to whip the crowd into submission until the very end. It was awesome to see the massive crowd singing in unison to these great songs.
the crowd says it all!
Thanks Geoff, Robert, Rudy, Kelly, Simon, and Rudy S. for giving us a memorable evening and keeping the music of Queensryche true to form!
at the meet and greet
Funny story from the meet and greet. I happen to have a Tri-Ryche tattoo on my right arm. I also happen to have a green Happy Bunny tattoo wearing a blue shirt with my daughters nickname on it. In the process of showing Geoff my Tri-Ryche tattoo he asked “What’s with the green bunny?” A nice moment of levity with Queensryche.
I would like to give a special shout out to Jeff Albright from THE ALBRIGHT ENTERTAINMENT GROUP for making it possible for me to cover this show.
I met Randy a few years back and was amazed by his playing and his style. I stayed in sort of a disjointed contact with him through the internet throughout that time. I found out in passing that we shared some common friends in the music world. Randy even played on my good friends Scattered Hamlets’ new release Skeleton Dixie. Randy and I finally caught up and had a great conversation about the events in his life. Enjoy and leave some feedback!
A very cool series from the Boss himself. Now if only we had some Black Label Crunch cereal or Skully Charms with marshmallow guitars to go with it!!! Enjoy, my BLS Family, and GI/FD!
New Jersey Scene Leaders BEYOND DISHONOR Release New ‘Breaking Bad’ Inspired Music Video for ‘Heisenberg’ – New EP ‘Generations’ Drops June 2013
Winners of the 2013 Sumerian Records “Headbang for the Highway” Competition in Trenton, NJ
April/May 2013 “I Am The Danger” Tour Dates Announced
Featured in NJ’s The Aquarian Weekly as this Week’s Local “Buzz” Band – Read Here
*BEYOND DISHONOR is looking for management, label and booking agent interest. To inquire, please contact booking@beyonddishonor.com.*
Trenton, New Jersey metalcore mainstays BEYOND DISHONOR have released a music video for their first single, entitled ‘Heisenberg’, today via their official YouTube channel. Watch here – http://youtu.be/BLRfAGgK23Y. Any fan of the hit television drama ‘Breaking Bad’ will immediately recognize that ‘Heisenberg’ is a tribute to the popular show— complete with yellow meth lab suits, greasy cigar-smoking drug kingpins, shady factory laboratories galore and more. ‘Heisenberg’ is cut from the band’s upcoming EP Generations, set to drop in June 2013.
“It’s an obvious homage to one of our favorite pieces of entertainment, but it is wrapped around a stronger metaphor – just as Walt perfects the formula against his better judgement, so too are we forced to find and perfect the formula for notice and respect in this tumultuous industry and genre,” states lead vocalist Reese Dunlap. “That theme is referenced throughout the song, and goes one step further in the video, where we are, in a sense, a victim of this formulaic control. It is only when we have ‘perfected the formula’ that we can finally escape mediocrity.”
Breaking free of the norm is exactly what BEYOND DISHONOR plans to do with their new EP Generations, which boasts production credits from acclaimed producer Andreas Magnusson, known for his work with The Black Dahlia Murder, Impending Doom, This or The Apocalypse and more. The five-piece combines eclectic styles and ranging influences to create music that is devastatingly heavy and aggressive enough for the most hardcore of fans, yet rhythmic and groovy enough to be accessible to those on the fringe. In a recent write-up, Heavyblogisheavy.com said, “The music lands on the good side of the contemporary metalcore/deathcore spectrum, for fans of earlyBorn of Osiris (sans keyboards) or Within the Ruins.”
Drawing inspiration from pop culture, primarily in the form of movies, television and gaming, is one of countless ways BEYOND DISHONOR has garnered fans in the local and national metal scene since they formed in late 2006. Their 2011 full-length, Travesty, is a well-received concept album drawing from band favorites Se7en, Ghostbusters and Full Metal Jacket. In similar fashion, Generationsfeatures pop culture references evident in song titles like ‘ED209 vs. The Staircase’ (RoboCop) and ‘What Clayton Bigsby Doesn’t Know’ (Chappelle’s Show).
In the state of New Jersey and even nationally, BEYOND DISHONOR asserts one of the strongest DIY success stories in a very challenging genre. The band churns out a staggering 70+ self-funded shows a year— without any label, booking agency, or management assistance. BEYOND DISHONOR is pushing 5,000+ fans on their official Facebook page and 10,000+ on Twitter— essentially commanding the attention of East coast metal fans with each and every post. Much of their success stems from the overwhelming support and praise provided by the many nationally-recognized artists they have supported, including Unearth, Chimaira, August Burns Red, Attack Attack, All Shall Perish, Winds of Plague, Born of Osiris, Suffocation, Emmure, and numerous others.
This past February, BEYOND DISHONOR won the Trenton, NJ date of the Sumerian Records “Headband for the Highway” competition, which was a touring “battle of the bands”-style performance competition in which bands from each market were chosen to perform on a large summer festival date. As the winner, the band was selected to perform on a local date of the All Stars Tour (this year featuring Every Time I Die, Chelsea Grin, Veil of Maya and more). Specifics regarding this performance are set to be announced soon.
BEYOND DISHONOR will head out on a 13-date east coast trek beginning April 12th. Several dates include performances with internationally-recognized artists such as Miss May I, Whitechapel, Texas in July and more, plus a stop at the annual Launch Music Conference in Lancaster, PA.
